One of the important aspects of owning a vehicle is regular maintenance service. It keeps your vehicle running in tip-top shape for both the daily drive and long road trips. In addition, getting regular service maintenance keeps your vehicle on the road for many miles to come.
Now, you may be wondering when it's a good time is to bring your vehicle in for service. We here at Shaffer Ford want to share with you how often you should bring it in for services and needed repairs.
Service Intervals
One way to know your vehicle's service interval is by checking your owner's manual. There is a section set aside for maintenance schedule, which covers everything from oil changes to transmission services and tire rotations.
Depending on your engine oil, you will need to change it between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. As the car ages, it may be necessary to change your oil at more frequent intervals to keep your engine healthy in the long term.
Other service items, including tire rotations and transmission services, have longer service intervals, usually around 60,000 miles in the case of the transmission. As for your tires, it's a good idea to get them rotated once every 7,500 miles or six months, whichever comes first.
