Cooling your Engine
First and foremost, you should turn off your air conditioner to help cool the engine. While running the A/C does help keep you cool on a warm sunny near Cumberland, MD, it does put a tremendous strain on your engine. By turning it off, your engine doesn't have to work as hard.
What you should do instead is flip on your heater. The heater will take the excess heat of your engine and divert it to the A/C vents. This helps lower your engine's core temperature and cool it off. While it may be uncomfortable on warm, it will save your engine from excess wear.
Another thing you can do is put your vehicle in neutral and rev the engine through the rev range. This allows your engine fan to spool up along with the water pump, allowing more air and water to go through the radiator. Keyser, WV drivers will see their vehicle's engine cool down as a result.
Finally, you pull over and open the hood, allowing fresh air to circulate around and through the engine. We recommend that you carefully open the hood due to the hot steam coming from the engine.
